In recent days, the United States has witnessed an act that not only misinforms but also degrades the symbolic value of the presidency. Donald Trump, former president and a central figure in the current political landscape, shared a fake video generated by artificial intelligence showing Barack Obama being arrested by the FBI and placed in a jail cell. Although clearly fictitious, the material was shared on his social network without warning, context, or clarification, generating confusion, outrage, and misinformation.

What is most concerning is not just the content of the video but the fact that it comes from someone who has held the highest office in the nation: the Presidency of the United States. A president, whether current or former, has no license to play with the people’s emotions. The presidential office is not a tool for personal propaganda or a means to settle political scores.

It is a commitment to all citizens, including those who did not vote for him. Spreading a fake video that symbolically portrays the humiliation and imprisonment of another former president is not freedom of expression — it is emotional manipulation. It is an insult to democracy and a blatant disrespect to the institutions of the nation. One cannot demand respect while showing contempt for the truth.

One cannot preach unity while sowing hatred and division. America does not need leaders who live in the past, feeding conspiracy theories. It needs leaders who build the future, who speak responsibly, and who understand the impact of their words and actions. Social media is not a toy for those who once held power; it is a platform with real consequences for public opinion, social stability, and the trust of the people.

Trump was not elected to take revenge. He was not elected to entertain himself with digital fabrications. He was elected by the people to represent the interests of all Americans — without exception. He was elected to serve all citizens of the United States, not to serve a political party, and far less to use power to satisfy his personal ambitions. When power — even symbolic — is used to harm, divide, or manipulate, the presidential oath is betrayed. Respect is earned through actions, not spectacle. And true leadership is demonstrated through responsibility, not sarcasm or provocation.
