"Wrath" and "Spirit" are the names of two new additions to the Turkish army’s arsenal. The NATO country also recently conducted a test and released footage of the destructive power of one of its latest weapons. At a military exhibition in Istanbul last week, there was significant interest in two new Turkish army bombs: the NEB-2 (“Spirit”) and the vacuum bomb MK 84 (“Gazap”).

The “Gazap” (which means “Wrath” in Turkish) is not only the largest bomb ever produced in Turkey, but also the most powerful non-nuclear weapon. Ministry of Defense: “The bomb is ready for use” For more than ten years, Turkish experts have been working on the nearly 900-kilogram “Wrath.” It delivers an explosive force of 8.5 tons and can hit targets with high precision thanks to a combination of inertial navigation and GPS.

The bombs can be carried by F-16 aircraft. When a vacuum bomb (aerosol bomb) detonates, a fuel is dispersed into the air. This is then ignited by a second explosion, creating an even greater pressure and heat wave. At the same time, the environment is deprived of oxygen. This negative pressure causes buildings not in the immediate vicinity of the blast to collapse, and causes severe lung damage or suffocation in people.

Additionally, 10,000 fragments are scattered, causing damage across “hundreds of square meters,” according to Turkish sources. “Certification is complete, the bomb is ready for deployment,” announced an official from the Turkish Ministry of Defense to Anadolu news agency. According to reports, the anti-bunker “Spirit” is even more powerful than its U.S. counterpart, the GBU-57, which was used in the U.S. attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.

During a test “on an island,” the NEB-2 reportedly penetrated about 90 meters into the ground and also broke through seven meters of C50-class pressure-resistant concrete. As a result of the test, landslides, rockfalls, and gas leaks occurred.
