NATO must prepare for the possibility of a simultaneous attack by Russia and China within two years, in which China could launch an offensive against Taiwan while Russia would confront Europe, warns the transatlantic alliance's new commander-in-chief. US General Alexus Grynkewich, who heads NATO's European defense, reiterated Secretary General Mark Rutte's warning on Thursday that Russia and China could coordinate their attacks.

From 2027 "Time is running out" because an attack could come as early as 2027, Grynkewich said in his first lengthy speech since taking office two weeks ago. "These two events could happen simultaneously," Grynkewich said of a Chinese attack on Taiwan and a Russian attack on Europe. "We've all heard about 2027. That's only two years away, when Xi Jinping (the Chinese president) could be ready to act."
