I’ll get back to you.” Apparently, Trump considered the timing particularly favorable—he had just separated from his second wife, Marla Maples. Thompson was in a similar situation, explaining: “I realized that very day my divorce decree had become final.” The Hollywood star speculated that the date request might not even have been Trump’s own idea.
