The Israeli army has announced a "tactical pause" in its military operations in parts of the Gaza Strip for humanitarian purposes. According to statements made on Sunday morning, the affected areas are regions where the military has not been recently active. These include the cities of Al-Mawasi and Deir el-Balah, as well as Gaza City. In these locations, designated safe routes will be established to allow the secure movement of convoys delivering humanitarian aid, the army confirmed.

Already on Saturday night, the Israeli Defense Forces had announced the resumption of airborne aid deliveries over the Gaza Strip and unveiled plans for the creation of humanitarian corridors to ensure the safe passage of United Nations convoys carrying food and medicine.

This decision comes as international pressure mounts on Israel due to the deteriorating humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territory. Over the past days, more than a hundred humanitarian organizations have raised the alarm over what they describe as a looming “mass famine” in the region, urging immediate action to allow the entry of essential supplies to civilians trapped in war zones.

The tactical pause, while limited in scope and geography, marks a significant shift in Israel’s operational posture and reflects growing demands from the global community for greater protection of noncombatants. Human rights organizations and aid groups have repeatedly emphasized the urgency of unobstructed humanitarian access, warning that continued hostilities without relief efforts could lead to widespread starvation, particularly among children and vulnerable populations. Israeli authorities maintain that their efforts are aimed at striking a balance between maintaining pressure on Hamas militants and alleviating suffering among the civilian population.
