Despite the ceasefire agreed upon in the Gaza Strip, another Palestinian has died as a result of Israeli airstrikes. In addition, one person was injured, local paramedics said on Saturday. The Israeli army stated it opened fire after two militants crossed an agreed demarcation line and approached soldiers. According to Lebanese sources, several people were also killed in new Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon.

Two brothers died on a rural road near Mount Hermon in the southeast of the country when their car was hit by a projectile and burst into flames, the NNA news agency reported. In the south, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, one man was killed and four others were injured. Earlier, seven people had been wounded in an attack on a vehicle in Bint Jbeil, also in the south. The Israeli army confirmed that it had carried out an airstrike in the Mount Hermon area. Two members of a militia allied with the Shiite group Hezbollah were killed. The two men were involved in arms smuggling for Hezbollah, the army said. According to Israel, they violated the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon. The army did not comment on the other attacks.

Conflict intensifies again

Tensions between Israel and the Shiite militia Hezbollah have risen sharply once more in recent days. The Israeli army is increasingly targeting buildings and vehicles it associates with the Iran-backed militia. Both sides had agreed to a ceasefire a year ago after months of warfare. Israel, with U.S. support, is pressing for Hezbollah’s disarmament. However, Israelis accuse the organization of secretly arming and carrying out attacks on targets in Lebanon almost daily.

Israeli settlers attack Palestinians in the West Bank

In the West Bank, Israeli settlers attacked a group of Palestinian villagers, activists, and journalists on Saturday. They had gathered to harvest olives near a settlement in Israeli-occupied West Bank territory, witnesses reported. Two Reuters employees—a journalist and her security adviser—were among the injured in the attack, in which men armed with sticks and clubs threw large stones.

According to Reuters, the attack occurred near the Palestinian village of Beita. The area south of the city of Nablus in the West Bank has been a hotspot for settler attacks in recent years, which have increased across the West Bank since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip two years ago.
