The company behind Elon Musk's AI chatbot Grok has apologized after a series of far-right and antisemitic statements. The startup xAI spoke of "sleazy behavior," which has now been stopped. The reason given for the chatbot's controversial responses to user questions was a software overhaul and partially incorrect programming of the artificial intelligence.
Screenshots posted on xAI in recent days had shown how the Grok chatbot glorified Adolf Hitler and gave antisemitic answers to user questions. Other posts also showed derogatory statements about Islam. New update: AI instructed to be "honest." Several posts on Grok's official account on the online service xAI now referenced programming issues on Saturday.
For example, the AI was instructed to be "honest." Furthermore, it "should not be afraid of shocking politically correct people," according to the AI's instructions. Meanwhile, according to a media report, xAI is preparing another financing round expected to raise between $170 billion and $200 billion (€145 billion and €171 billion) in debt capital. Saudi sovereign wealth fund PIF will play a major role in the deal, the Financial Times reported Friday, citing people familiar with the talks. Statements from xAI and PIF were not yet available.
