The United States says it has submitted a detailed proposal. According to the United Nations Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Tehran reportedly possesses nearly weapons-grade uranium. In talks on Iran's nuclear program, US special envoy Steve Witkoff has presented a proposed agreement to Tehran's leaders, according to media reports. It is "a detailed and acceptable proposal," the US news site "Axios" and other media reported, citing US President Donald Trump's spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said his counterpart in Oman had presented him with "elements of an agreement with the United States.

" One would react "appropriately" and in accordance with Iran's "national interests," Araqchi wrote in X. Previously, the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) had stated in a report that the amount of near-weapons-grade uranium produced in Iran had increased by almost 50 percent in a short time. According to the report, the Islamic Republic already has nearly 409 kilograms of uranium with a purity of 60 percent. About 42 kilograms would be sufficient for a nuclear weapon if this uranium were enriched a little further to 90 percent, according to diplomatic circles.

Israel Fears the Bomb Iran rejected the report as politically motivated. In Israel, there are fears that Tehran's leaders are striving to build an atomic bomb that would threaten the existence of the Jewish state. There is speculation that Israel could be preparing an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. According to the state news agency IRNA, the Iranian Foreign Ministry accuses Israel of sending the IAEA falsified documents, which are the basis of the report. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on the international community to act quickly after the report was presented. It is in Iran's best interest to accept the US proposal, Trump's spokeswoman was quoted as saying by the media.
